The Assistant

The Assistant is built into the editor. Tell it what you want in your own words and it changes the site you have open.

Ask it something

  1. Open the Assistant tab at the top of the right-hand panel.

  2. Type in the box (Describe a change, or ask a question.) and press Send.

  3. It works through the change and lists what it did, step by step.

To ask about one thing on the page, click it and press Ask Assistant on the small bar that appears. The Assistant then knows exactly what you mean.

Good things to ask:

  • "Make the heading on the home page say 'Fresh bread every morning'."

  • "Add a page for our opening hours and put it in the menu."

  • "Make the colours warmer."

  • "How do I connect my own domain?" It can explain where things are in the editor, too.

Undo what it did

  • Undo what the Assistant did, under its answer, puts back the pages, the menu, the design and the other changes it lists. A few changes, such as some product details and settings, can't be undone this way; the answer says which. If it made pages or products, it asks you first.

  • Undo beside a single step puts back that step only.

  • Its changes are ordinary saved versions, so Versions in the top bar works for them too.

What it can't do

Some things stay with you, so nothing happens that you didn't press for:

  • It never publishes. It can suggest it; you press Publish site.

  • It doesn't delete pages, blog posts, products or websites. You do that in the editor, where you can see what goes.

  • It doesn't change payments, billing or your domain, and it doesn't make or end a discount code on its own: it offers you a button with the code's terms, and the code is made only if you press it.

  • It doesn't read your form messages, orders or member lists. Those hold other people's details, so they stay in Site settings.

  • It works only on the site you have open.

Its monthly allowance

The Assistant comes with a monthly allowance, shown as a bar in the Assistant panel with a line saying how much is used. Where top-ups are offered, Buy more beside it adds more. Your own AI agent, connected over MCP, doesn't use this allowance: see Connect your own AI agent.

The Assistant is an AI. Check what it writes before you publish.
